Ecuador's Electricity Corporation (Celec EP) completed repairs on the El Inga-Tisaleo transmission line, located in Machachi, after power outages affected five cities on August 21, 2026. Celec EP's general manager, Antonio Jácome, inspected the operations at the site, where fallen conductors were repositioned since Friday morning.
The work was carried out on the section between structures 66 and 68 in the Pedregal, on a 149 km line that transports energy from the Coca Codo Sinclair plant to Quito and Guayaquil. The fallen conductor was found 36 km from the El Inga substation, causing temporary disconnection in sectors of Guayaquil, Durán, Machala, Jipijapa, and Santo Domingo. Celec EP emphasized that the work did not affect the continuity of the national electricity supply.
