What happened with Beccacece?

The 45-year-old former coach left after a disappointing tournament. Ecuador lost 0-1 to Ivory Coast, drew 0-0 with Curaçao, beat Germany 2-1, and fell 0-2 to Mexico. "Results are what matter," Beccacece said upon departure, expressing gratitude for the experience.

Who could be the new coach?

The Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF), led by Francisco Egas, seeks a manager for future cycles. Among those ruled out are Guillermo Almada (current América de México coach), Ricardo Gareca, and Zlatko Dalić. Egas prefers a coach with long-term project experience and high demands.

When will the replacement be announced?

The FEF aims to appoint a new coach by the FIFA window of September 21–October 6. "We want to make the most of every opportunity," said Egas. The team, with a recent record of 1W-2D-2L (LLWDD), needs a new direction after their last loss to Mexico (2026-07-01).
