Diego Monzón, the young Real Zaragoza midfielder, has been called up to Ecuador's Under-20 national team. The youth academy product will join the Tricolor's training camp in Quito from September 27 to October 6, where the national side will play two friendly matches against Peru.

The call-up comes as Ecuador's senior team looks for stability, following a 3-0 defeat to South Korea on September 24.

Absence for Zaragoza

For Monzón, this call-up is a recognition of his work but also means an absence from Real Zaragoza. The player, who renewed his contract last season and is part of Deportivo Aragón, will miss his club's matches against Ibiza (September 25), Teruel (October 4), and Atlético Madrileño (October 11). Although he has trained with the first team during pre-season under Ibai Gómez, he is yet to make his official debut for the Aragonese side.

The player has been an international for Ecuador's youth categories and now gets a fresh chance to impress with his national team. The full Under-20 squad list for this camp is available in our squad section. The gathering in the Ecuadorian capital represents a valuable experience for the talented midfielder as he aims to secure his place in the project for the future.
