The Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) confirmed that the Ecuador national team will play a friendly match against South Korea on September 24, as part of the international FIFA date. The match will be played at the Big Bird Stadium in Suwon, South Korea, and will be one of the first encounters of the Tri under the new coach who will be announced by the FEF. The Ecuadorian leadership expects to formalize the replacement of Sebastián Beccacece by the end of August. This will be the third time in history that Ecuador will face South Korea. The first encounter between the two teams took place on June 5, 1994, when the Tri won 2-1 with goals from Carlos Vernaza and Ivo Ron. The most recent precedent occurred on May 16, 2010, with a 2-0 victory for South Korea. Now, after more than 16 years, both teams will face each other again in an international friendly. The FEF continues to define Ecuador's preparation schedule for the upcoming FIFA dates, while advancing the process to choose the new strategist who will lead the Tri. Currently, Ecuador is in third place in the World Cup classification, with 4 points, 1 win, 1 draw, and 1 loss in 3 games, and a recent streak of LWDL.
