Military operation
On 23 August 2026, the Primera División de Ejército Shyris carried out an operation in La Maná, Cotopaxi Province, where they detained Pablo H., known as ‘Caballo’. The operation was conducted after intelligence work located the suspect at a property in the La Maná canton.

Authorities identify Pablo H. as a suspected financial operator of the Albanian mafia in Ecuador. A valid arrest warrant was executed for drug trafficking offenses. Additionally, official information indicates that the detainee is linked to investigations for money laundering and organized crime, and may have ties to transnational structures associated with the Albanian mafia.
Judicial procedure
After the arrest, ‘Caballo’ was handed over to the competent authorities to continue the legal process. No new judicial measures have been announced, nor have the exact responsibilities of Pablo H. in the investigations been determined.
