Visit and Reception
Paraguayan President Santiago Peña arrived in Quito on July 28, 2026, after attending Keiko Fujimori’s inauguration in Lima. At 21:00 hours, he was received at Mariscal Sucre Airport by Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Roberto Kury.
Meeting Objectives
The agenda included several working sessions to strengthen the strategic alliance between Paraguay and Ecuador on security, trade, and prosperity. The leaders agreed to boost economic opportunities and share welfare initiatives in both countries.
Background and Context
Earlier, on June 30, Peña had met Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa during the Mercosur Heads of State and Government Summit in Luque, near Asunción. The Ecuadorian foreign minister accompanied Noboa during the meeting with Peña at the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) headquarters, where they discussed plans to advance the strengthening of bilateral relations.
