Official Visit of Santiago Peña to Quito
On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, Paraguay’s President Santiago Peña arrived in the Ecuadorian capital for a meeting with President Daniel Noboa. This visit came after his attendance at Keiko Fujimori's inauguration ceremony in Lima, Peru.
Santiago Peña was formally greeted by Ecuador’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Kury, upon arrival at Mariscal Sucre Airport just after 9:00 PM on the same day. The primary goal of his visit was to meet with Noboa and discuss ways to strengthen the strategic alliance between Paraguay and Ecuador in areas like security, trade, and economic growth.
Before this official visit, both leaders had met earlier during a Mercosur summit, held in Luque near Asunción on June 30. At that occasion, they discussed plans for advancing bilateral ties, and the Ecuadorian Minister of Foreign Affairs accompanied President Noboa to their meeting at CONMEBOL headquarters.
During the discussions, the two leaders will focus on developing joint measures to boost economic opportunities and improve social well-being in both nations.
